Family Service (5 September 2010)
Once a month, we have a “Family Service” in ICC that is both children friendly and relevant for adult. We do this with an intend to ensure that the children feel a part of the Sunday service as well as express the importance to the adults on why they should involve their kids in spiritual matters from an impressionable age in their life.
As a counsellor, I have had numerous occasions where desperate parents have come to me in tears in their eyes, full of despair wanting to find solutions on how to help their teenage children. Quite often this is because their kids have lacked a proper role model from childhood and thus does what seems right in their own eyes during the turbulent teenage stages. These sincere parents wish I could perform “instant” wonders in a counselling session with their kids whom have been programmed for years to do what they saw was right in their own eyes. No doubt counselling could in the long run help rectify certain behaviour disorders. Nevertheless, prevention is always better than cure.
The Scriptures tells us to train a child in the way they ought to behave from childhood. Often, this childhood training begins from weaning. This training is deliberate, consistent and pure hard work. The benefit of it is reaped slowly but surely. Children often learn more from observing what adults do as opposed to what they say. We will discuss this more of this concept in a family atmosphere on Sunday the 5th of September in ICC at Ryesgade 68, 2100 Kbh Ø, 10:30. All are welcome.
